Hi Nevin,
In order to prepare a recording based on the hanging dept, I have a small bit of homework for you which involves writing answers to a few questions. I have pasted them into your profile but I have also pasted them in here to save you from having to log in. If you get time on Monday or Tuesday, could you write me back some brief answers and I will correct them before our next lesson on Wednesday morning:
1. For allocation; Are team members permanently assigned to a specific set of stores or do they just arrive and pick for the list that is provided to them by the group leader.
2. Is it a group leader who decides how much work is allocated to each team member. Who is in charge of the printing? Is that person also in charge of printing labels for the hanging sacks?
3. Does the member of staff pick up her/his sack labels with the pick lists?
4. Does the team which is unpacking the boxes from the suppliers work a little bit ahead of the colleagues who are counting and entering the data for the trolleys? i.e. do you unpack the garments you will need in the first hour of the first shift in the last hour of the second shift? Or what kind of synchronisation do the two teams have. It looks like the both process garments at about equal speed.
5. When an (allocation) sack is full, you scan the label, right? Or how do you know how many garments you really send?
Hope that is not too many questions or too complicated.
See you on Wednesday at 1.30 again and all the best till then.
Paul.
